Sorting out liability for Selby crash will take months (Apr 01) According to GAB Robins, the loss adjusters appointed by Fortis Insurance, establishing liability for the tragic Selby train disaster may not be established for several months. The company confirmed that it is consulting a number of experts, including an accident reconstruction team, in order to establish exactly what happened. If the driver of the Land Rover, insured by Fortis, is found liable for the crash then the insurer will be responsible for an estimated £40m worth of damage and loss caused by the disaster. If, however, the Land Rover suffered a tyre blow-out the company that fitted the tyre might be responsible. North Yorkshire Police are continuing their appeals for witnesses to the road accident that caused the disaster. Back to "Recent events which have an effect on your premium" index |
